The deadline for filing a Proof of Claim ("POC") is 11:59 CDT on September 5th, 2024.
All POCs must be postmarked or received by the SDR at the address on the POC form before the deadline to be considered proper and timely filed. Faxed or e-mailed POCs will not be accepted.
On March 23, 2023, Friday Health Insurance Company, Inc. (“FHIC”), was placed into liquidation in a receivership proceeding in Texas. The 345th District Court in Travis County, Texas (the “Court” or “Receivership Court”) issued an order (the “Liquidation Order”) finding FHIC was insolvent, placing it into liquidation, and appointing the Texas Commissioner of Insurance as Receiver of FHIC (Cause No. GN-23-001549). The Commissioner appointed CANTILO & BENNETT, L.L.P. as the Special Deputy Receiver (“SDR”) of FHIC.
FHIC was a health insurance company licensed only in Texas.
Notice to Former FHIC Insureds Regarding Premium:
All FHIC individual plans terminated as of December 31, 2022. All remaining small group plans terminated on or before June 30, 2023.
Please make sure that you have stopped any automatic withdrawals, bill pay checks, or credit card payments to FHIC.
If you made premium payments to FHIC after your plan terminated, please be advised that the Receivership Court has approved a process to file proofs of claims (POCs) with the SDR and set a deadline of September 5, 2024, for filing such claims.
You should receive instructions on how to file a POC and the deadline for doing so by email in the coming weeks. You may also download the POC form and instructions from this web site. The SDR’s staff will process your POC and issue a Notice of Claim Determination. The SDR expects to be able to pay these types of claims for premium in full. However, we are unable to predict when the payments will be made.

Important Update: The Texas Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association (“TLHIGA”) will provide coverage for all eligible FHIC policyholders (most of whom will be Texas residents), subject to the lesser of their policy limits or the statutory limit of $500,000 for any one individual. Policyholders DO NOT need to submit any additional documentation beyond the normal claim submissions for TLHIGA to process their claims. If you have a policy claim, submit it in the normal fashion. Policyholders with claims that may exceed TLHIGA’s statutory coverage limit will be notified by the SDR of any possible claim against the assets of the FHIC receivership estate. The SDR is unable to provide insight into the claim processing procedures of TLHIGA, or provide an estimated timeline as to how long it will take TLHIGA to issue payments for claims.
